CENTRAL POWERS PISTOLS, THE GREAT WAR PISTOLS OF GERMANY, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY, TURKEY AND BULGARIA
(Volume I, ISBN 1-893513-12-2) is the first book in the series Imperial Lugers, Weimar and Early Nazi Lugers, Third Reich Lugers, and Axis Pistols all by Jan C. Still.

This book was prepared with the help of the World class collectors that post on the German Lugers, Central Powers and Axis Pistols Forum, the Luger Forum, and the NAPCA Forum.  This book will only be advertised at these three internet sites.  Please let your collector friends that are not computer literate know that this book is for sale.

CENTRAL POWERS PISTOLS is a high quality, hard cover, full sized book with over 450 pages.  Almost 150 pistol types, variations and subvariations are described in word and with over 1000 high quality digital color photographs crafted into 250 pages of illustrations.  Color allows the collector to see the normal affect of age on the finish of 89-105 year old pistols (discoloration, fine freckles and patina are visible).

Each pistol type is shown on the left and right side and detailed enlargements are shown of the markings, acceptance stamps, and proofs.  Serial number and data tables let the collector know how his pistol fits into the overall scheme of production, issue and use.  Holsters are covered in illustrations and captions with over 60 rigs shown.  The unit markings of over 75 pistols are illustrated and identified.  Tables to identify unit markings for the Imperial German Army, Navy, and police and to identify the unit markings on Imperial Austro-Hungarian arms are included.  (Note: the Luger section replaces Imperial Lugers, however coverage of accessories is limited to the illustrations and captions.)

COMMENTS FROM GUN BOOK AUTHORS AND ADVANCED COLLECTORS

LEONARDO M. ANTARIS, MD (Author of the books STAR FIREARMS and ASTRA AUTOMATIC PISTOLSCentral Powers Pistols is an encyclopedic text that covers the pistols of Germany and her allies during World War I. While most casual observers will be drawn to the superb color pictures, serious collectors will be more appreciative of Jan Still's painstaking research and orderly presentation. His serial number database is extraordinary by any standard, his coverage of military and unit markings is second to none, and his categorization of ancillary arms is replete with new information. Heralding a level of historical corroboration that is unrivaled by any other reference, Central Powers Pistols deserves a prime location in every collector's library.

JEFF NOLL (Author of THE IMPERIAL GERMAN REGIMENTAL MARKING):  I just completed my second pass through Jan Stills latest book, CENTRAL POWERS PISTOLS. Jan was kind enough to send one of his advanced copies to me. Simply put, he has set a new standard in collector books. At least 80% of the photos are color and it is over 450 pages. This book is five pounds of details and pictures of a very wide variety of World War One pistols. The photos are exquisite. If you liked Jan’s previous books you will love this one. I cannot recommend it enough.

ED TINKER (Author of SIMSON LUGERS): Chalk full of information, and probably 95% color full page pictures, it is an impressive and fact filled book (464 pages).

MARTIN KRAUSE (Author of J.P. SAUER & SOHN, Volume II) : I am very impressed, to say the least, outstanding information and photos.

JOHN JAMES: It is impressive to say the least! With that said, my very first impression when opening the book was the awesome color photographs! Their crystal clear elements of objects displayed especially when viewing the close up's of some of the smaller details, often overlooked in previous publications, was especially appreciated.

I was also highly impressed with the condition of most of the presented holsters in the book.

 GEORGE ANDERSON: Absolutely the best!!!

ROBERT WEISS* Quality, expertise, comprehensive, useful, delightful.* As Jan has demonstrated on this Forum, a higher level of historical display is portrayed in numerous photographs highlighting today's finest single compendium of data/information ever assembled for this period's Central Powers Pistols subject.- One could simply view the numerous high quality color pictures/captions and be thoroughly satisfied with this volume.- This contribution really excels, however, by using the InterNet as a communications tool to tap the international community's subject matter experts. What results is a most satisfying and complete knowledge based reference full of S/N listings, data tables, descriptions and variations to date. As before, Jan's clear writing style affords a pleasing, easy to use, format. * Fitting, as we near a century with the P.08, this Masterpiece is provided. A marvelous investment certain to reward on all levels!!

JAMES FETTERLYInside the New edition Central Powers Pistols the reader will be overwhelmed by the coverage of historic data and photographic proof of many interesting acceptances, frame types (lugers), unit designations, Naval data, Empires that ranged during Imperial Germany and countless photos of some of the most outstanding pistols of the Central Powers.

PETE EBBINKIn addition to the monumental research and effort putting this new book together, Jan has a great section in Appendix D titled as "Hints To Detect Boosted Imperial Military Lugers".
